Basil Anderson Joins CRA's Board of Directors

Vice Chairman of Staples and Former Senior Executive with Campbell Soup and Scott Paper Brings 30 Years of Financial Experience to CRA's Board

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 2004-- Charles River Associates Incorporated (NASDAQ: CRAI), an internationally known leader in providing economic, financial, and management consulting services, today announced that Basil Anderson has joined CRA's Board of Directors and will serve on the Company's Audit Committee. Mr. Anderson currently serves as Vice Chairman of Staples, Inc., where he oversees various areas, including finance, legal, and strategy, as well as the company's European catalog and Internet business.

An experienced senior financial executive, Mr. Anderson has spent the last 30 years guiding the financial operations of major corporations. Prior to joining Staples in 2001, Mr. Anderson served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Campbell Soup Company for five years. Previously, Mr. Anderson spent 20 years with Scott Paper Company, advancing from positions in management science, finance, and investor relations to being named treasurer and, subsequently, CFO. As CFO, Mr. Anderson participated in numerous mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including the firm's merger with Kimberly-Clark.

In addition to joining CRA's board and his position as Vice Chairman of Staples, Mr. Anderson currently occupies positions on the board of Hasbro and on the board of trustees of the University of Chicago, from which he holds an M.B.A.
